1. install the demo 
2. 'winetricks d3dx9_36'
3. run ConfigTool.exe and uncheck the option 'software cursor'
4. start 'fsasgame.exe' and you should see that there's a white box around the mouse pointer. If you enable anti-aliasing in the configuration tool, then hardware mouse pointer is invisible.

This regression affects the first installment of the series (Secret Files: Tunguska) and UFO:Extraterrestrials Gold (Steam version) as well, but in a different way.
In UFO:ET Gold the mouse pointer is visible when you start the game, but it becomes hidden if you move the mouse pointer out of the screen (virtual desktop) and move it back to the game screen. The mouse is still working but it is invisible.

Should be fixed by commit f8e62bc5962bc71ed584fd35329aba180f5e9df3.
