Just updated wine to 1.5.9, installed Steam and tried to launch Counter Strike: Source.

The game will open and show the Valve video, but won't get to the main menu.

Software used:
Ubuntu 12.04 64bits
Wine 1.5.9 with 32bits prefix
Nvidia drivers 295.49

Hardware used:
Pentium dual core E6700 @ 3,52Ghz
Geforce 9600gt

Other Source based games will run, like Portal and Left 4 Dead.

Also tried setting virtual desktop on/off and reseting my counter strike settings with no results.

I'm sorry, but I can't do that. This is a production machine, I'm not a wine developer.

One useful information is that CS source used to run on wine 1.5.5 and also on wine 1.4, and now it doesn't run neither on wine 1.5.9/1.5.10 nor on 1.4.1.

Same problem here with Wine 1.5.12, this didn't happen previously (can't remember version though..) CS:S does run on my machine which is 1.5.12, just not my brothers, my brother has a new installation of Wine, Steam + CS:S and the distro.

Does it launch if you use winecfg to set the emulated Windows version to Windows 98, and/or is it fixed in the latest Git?

If so, this is a duplicate of bug 7698.

Counter Strike Source runs well here with wine 1.6.0.
(Ubuntu 13.04 amd64).
