To reproduce, click the Office button, then select Prepare=>Properties. If dw20.exe (Office's error handler) is not disabled it will intercept the crash and the app will freeze; if dw20.exe is disabled, Wine's crash dialog will appear.

Reverting the patch fixes the problem.

I set the Wine version based on the regression test results, but the problem is still present in wine-1.3.32-122-g2e5f73e using Wine-Gecko 1.4. The problem doesn't occur if Wine-Gecko isn't installed.

This bug report lists the platform as x86 Linux. I am also experiencing this bug in x86-64 Linux.

The problem is still present in WINE 1.3.37.

The patch prevents the crash. The basic document properties window doesn't load correctly, but I'm not sure if it ever did, and that would be a different bug anyway.

I edited the file /dlls/mshtml/persist.c from WINE 1.3.37 to include the minor change indicated in the attachment to Comment 4 by André H., and rebuilt WINE. I can confirm that the change posted by André allows me to view and edit the properties of documents in Word 2007, PowerPoint 2007 and Excel 2007. Thank you all. Will this fix make it into WINE 1.4?

i'll do, seen this bug again this week while i was ago, now i search quite long for this bug at home as i wasn't added to the CC list by only adding attachments......
