Getting started page under Wine

When starting up Visio 2007, the Getting Started screen presents template previews. The icons for those previews are not visible.

Terminal output for running up to getting started screen; with various DLLs installed

After installing corefonts, msxml3, riched20, riched30 and gdiplus through winetricks; the terminal output changes somewhat - I don't know if this is any help, but it might give a pointer in the right direction perhaps?
Comment 5 Nikolay Sivov 2011-09-22 06:01:07 UTC
Any particular reason to have native msxml3 for it? To properly fix something it's necessary to reduce number of external dependencies as much as possible.

Could you try to get a minimal list of needed overrides? To get icons working it sounds like gdiplus is a first candidate to start with.

Also please open a bug for msxml3 if it really makes difference at some point, and if not already opened of course.
Comment 6 Geoff Riley 2011-09-22 06:10:38 UTC
msxml3 seems to prevent Visio 2007 crashing on exit - without it I seem to always get a crash on exit even if I haven't been editing anything.

I have not yet found anything that does get the icons/previews working - the DLLs installed are those documented in the test report at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16692 and seem to be the optimum at the current stage of events.

I am now on Wine version 1.3.28; and have tried switching back to builtin versions, but had no joy so far.

I can do a variety of terminal outputs will different setups if that will help?

Probably it saves some configs or such.

Please open a new report for msxml3 crash with terminal output and backtrace with debug symbols, this should be a clean install with no overrides. I'll take a look at it then.

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

Unable to retest since I'm no longer using Visio 2007. I have no icon problems with Visio 2010 though.

Visio 2007 getting started started screenshot

Hello folks,

I can't reproduce this, the images/icons look fine.
Attached is a screenshot of Visio 2007 'getting started' (no winetricks, no overrides).

$ wine --version
wine-1.7.11-206-g82b3813
