After trying to install the music manager to an clean Wineprefix I'm getting an error that there was a problem.

Google music manager can be downloaded after receiving an invitation. The invitation are only available on United States and can be requested at music.google.com

Is this still a problem for you?  It installed fine for me.

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

Hello folks,

works fine here.

You have to be patient.
It takes considerable time to establish SSL session and start downloading music manager components/updates.

To verify it's still alive while the progress bar is just revolving, start with:

$ WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+winhttp wine ./musicmanagerinstaller.exe
--- snip ---

$ sha1sum musicmanagerinstaller.exe 
c02e6a6f5b52dbd1281b8c84a273cb13fc8b95b8  musicmanagerinstaller.exe

$ du -sh musicmanagerinstaller.exe 
596K	musicmanagerinstaller.exe

$ wine --version
wine-1.7.9-209-gb231b4b

Closing bugs fixed in 1.7.10.
