screenshot showing the wrong fonts

There are some scenes in the game where the text is not displayed correctly (see attached screenshot). It looks as if the fonts were condensed.
The menu text and the game instructions at the top of the screen are all displayed correctly, but if you open your PDA in the game by pressing 'd' and choose the 'Device Solver', you can observe the issue.
'winetricks corefonts tahoma' doesn't help.

Some notes for testing:
Msvcp60.dll must be placed into /system32 to start the game or the setup utility.
Make sure you set up the game to run in windowed mode in Settings.exe. For some reasons the game crashes on startup if fullscreen is selected.

I must add: prior to Wine-1.3.3 the text was *completely* unreadable in those particular scenes: fonts were displayed as strange signs and symbols. The current state in Wine-1.3.4 is an improvement, but still not perfect.

The same problem with text in-game using Wine-1.3.25.
Native usp10.dll improves the situation.
Here I'm attaching a new screenshot showing the difference.

screenshot (native usp10)

However, native usp10.dll doesn't always produce the desired result.
Now the screenshot is showing the same game window that I attached in comment #0.
As you can see the spacing between the letters is correct but the word 'broken' is literally broken.
Comment 5 Béla Gyebrószki 2012-02-25 00:40:15 UTC
Still present in Wine-1.4-rc5.

Thank you for fixing this bug.

Closing bugs fixed in 1.7.9.
