Farscape console dump after crash

Starting Farscape: The Game opens a dialog to select resolution and enable/disable FMV. No matter the resolution or FMV setting the game will exit immediately and give a crash dump (see attachment).

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 1 year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.29 or newer) wine?

new crash log

Game still crashes at start (get a crash window immediately). Attached the console log from my latest test.

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
Comment 6 Jonathan Strander 2013-11-13 18:54:49 UTC
This is still an issue. Never received a response to my previous log. Bug is the same as always.

Hello folks,

I found an archived Internet 'backup'.
The game works out of the box with all graphics settings 'high' and FMV enabled/disabled.

Closing bugs fixed in 1.7.10.
Comment 9 Jonathan Strander 2014-01-03 17:23:34 UTC
Wouldn't that version have all of the copy protection disabled?
Comment 10 Anastasius Focht 2014-01-03 18:17:23 UTC
Hello Jonathan,

--- quote ---
Wouldn't that version have all of the copy protection disabled?
--- quote ---

sure. It's a common misconception that "crash" automatically means it must be DRM related.
The game uses SecuROM 4.x copy protection which works fine.

No offence, but I wasted a load of bucks to buy older games just to investigate alleged copy protection issues (I don't play games at all) and in many cases I found there was nothing to fix.
Most of the time people had old/broken Wine versions, broken/missing dependencies, broken graphics drivers, broken kernels, broken prefixes and <insert lots of stupid user errors here>.

If you can still reproduce your problem with Wine 1.7.10 you are free to reopen the bug.
Be sure to attach a fresh crash report.

Regards

Not saying you should waste your money, but usually it's a good idea to test the same version and installation process.
