Description John M. 2010-01-24 13:52:25 UTC
Just tried to install RPG Maker VX to my Ubuntu 9.10 machine. It installs fine, but when I try to load or create a new project, I get the error in my console below:

X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
Serial number of failed request: 10949
Current serial number in output stream: 10960

The program then does a hard crash. You can see the map and tiles load before the crash for a split second before the program just exits out.

What video card and drivers?

Gah, I apologize, usually I'm good about that.

This machine is running Ubuntu 9.10 x64. 6GB of RAM and making use of a GeForce GTX 275 video card with 1792 MB of VRAM. It is making use of the Propritary drive for Ubuntu version 175, I believe.

This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 1 year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.29 or newer) wine?

this problem also seems to happen with rpg maker xp and oddly I found setup providing a traceback of missing .Net runtimes when installing with crossover. Seems that .Net framework being installed might fix this one, therefore we need to look at wine's implementation of .net 2.0

I can reproduce this in wine-1.3.14 (but I needed native ie7 to get past the splash screen). It works fine in wine-1.7.7-199-g608b1e1.

It doesn't look like it was a wine-mono bug though, winetricks dotnet20 didn't make a difference in wine-1.3.14.

Anyway, fixed.

Closing bugs fixed in 1.7.8.
