...encountered a serious problem and needs to close

With the latest release (1.1.22) I'm getting the attached message when running DVD Profiler, yet it does not appear to affect the operation of the application in any way.

The operation of the program under wine does not appear to have altered for the last many wine releases, and has never got worse as far as I can recall (i.e. any changes have improved functionality / performance).

One might speculate that this is enhanced error handling reporting an existing error (of which there are several attached to the program), but I have no idea which one.

The error appear immediately after running the exe, so is very early in the somewhat long start up for the application.

Hi, Stuart.

What about console output?

Console output triggering error

Console output attached. The error happens after line 3 (wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0xb3c5fe00 at address 0x15fea1d (thread 0019), starting debugger...) and the program (and console content) continues as soon as I cancel the message.

Is this a regression?
Comment 4 Stuart Middleton 2009-06-06 02:38:24 UTC
I was hoping that someone could tell me!

I can't see any functional change between the version upgrade, so I don't know whether:

- it's something new that's breaking, or
- simply a new feature that reports an existing (non-terminal) error back to the user.

If it's the latter, I presume that it's not a regression. If it's the former, the only way I can detect a difference is if the error is reported (because, as I've already said, there is no noticeable difference in functionality).

Suggestions?

is this still occuring in 1.3.20?
Comment 6 Stuart Middleton 2011-07-01 09:55:03 UTC
Confirming still present in 1.3.23. Also, appears to be less stable than it used to be (I've not used it consistently under Wine for some time - I've defaulted to using a virtual machine) - very possibly due to this error.
Comment 7 Stuart Middleton 2013-11-14 08:10:01 UTC
Retested in 1.7.6 and issue is no longer occurring. Closing, assumed fixed.
Comment 8 Alexandre Julliard 2013-11-22 12:51:14 UTC
Closing bugs fixed in 1.7.7.
