Coudn't start Frets on fire for windows 1.2.512. Fails with an error message(sorry, can't post).
Comment 1 Justin Soulia 2008-05-28 07:14:46 UTC
Same here, only I don't even get any fixme's or errors.

I'd try a trace but I wouldn't know where to set the focus.
Comment 2 Louis Lenders 2008-05-28 11:59:26 UTC
Confirming. This one ia easy to fix. It just seems to look for glu32.dll. A fake-dll is enough get it starting. I'll send a patch

there are problems with the menu too, but that's another bug

Wine log

Still doesn't work for me, even with rc3. May be problem is in my system? Here is the log with strange message about OpenGL extensions. I'm on Xubuntu Hardy.
Comment 4 Louis Lenders 2008-05-31 08:43:28 UTC
>wine: Call from 0x7b844c50 to unimplemented function msvcr71.dll.___unguarded_readlc_active_add_func

yeah, i get that too. Try:
wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks vcrun2003

That will work around the bug. I don't know if wine intends to implement these undocumented function calls from msvcr71, but that would really be another issue.
Comment 5 Alexander Varnin 2008-05-31 14:06:19 UTC
Now starts. I'll keep testing.
Comment 6 Austin English 2008-11-29 17:56:28 UTC
Is this still an issue in current (1.1.9 or newer) wine?

Comment 8 Jeff Zaroyko 2008-11-29 21:58:12 UTC

I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not, but there is a linux version of Frets on Fire over at http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/

I'm not sure how to get it working under wine... The farthest I could get was where I could hear music playing, but the screen was all garbled.

We know... that's why [dogfood] is in the bug title.

still a bug in current wine?
Comment 16 Bruno Jesus 2011-11-19 17:11:56 UTC
I don't get a crash in 1.3.33 but the game doesn't start. It creates a log file with the line:

pygame.error: DirectSoundCreate: Invalid parameter
Comment 17 Fiona Ebner 2014-01-11 05:22:41 UTC
The game works for me with wine 1.7.10
